Ubuntu 22.10 Beta now available, and it comes with a new official flavor

Ubuntu 22.10 Beta

In October there have to be two important releases. First He launched its beta in mid-September, and the second has done the same on the last day of the month, at least in areas such as Spain. Canonical has released the beta of Ubuntu 22.10, and along with the main version, with GNOME desktop, the betas of version 22.10 of Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu Studio and Ubuntu Kylin have also been released. But that is not all.

As of this beta, there are a new official flavor: Ubuntu Unity has lost the "Remix" label and now the family is back to nine siblings. If memory serves me right, they were nine until they discontinued Ubuntu GNOME, since the main version left Unity to return to the then new version of the desktop they used in the beginning. Now there are nine members of the family again, and the count could increase in the future if any of the Cinnamon, Sway, Web, UbuntuDDE or UbuntuDDE flavors is accepted.

What's new in Ubuntu 22.10

Ubuntu 22.10 is the name of an operating system and also of the whole family. For the Therefore, there are news that are shared, but each flavor will be different from the others, either because of the chosen desktop or because of the packages, like an Ubuntu Studio that uses Plasma, but includes packages aimed at content creators.

Yes it can be said that everyone will use Linux 5.19. As for the available desktops, the family will use GNOME 43, Plasma 5.25, Xfce 4.17, LXQt 1.1.0 (we remember that there are a Backports repository to receive future updates that would otherwise not be received), Budgie 10.6.2, MATE 1.28 and UKUI 3.1, for those who speak or prefer the Chinese flavor.

The Ubuntu 22.10 beta download will be in one or the other link, depending on the chosen flavor. The most generic is cd image of the project, an unattractive page, but from which you can access all the available images. To download the beta, go to the flavor you want to download/releases/22.10/beta. Existing users, that is, those who are in the Daily Build can update from the operating system to receive all the news.

In the same /releases directory the stable version will appear next October 20, at which time we will publish articles about each release and what's new in each one.
