Thunderbird has a new logo, and it will look better if we put it face to face with Firefox's

Thunderbird debuts logo

After a while using Mac OS X, because yes, I used a Mac that I've still had for years and yes, Mac OS X because I've never tried macOS, I went back to using mostly Linux. In general, I have never given up on it and have never been dissatisfied with what Linux offers, but there are some things in the design that could be improved. For example, I searched many mail clients to find one I liked like Apple Mail, but in the end I ended up using Thunderbird and, some time later, the client offered by Vivaldi (I don't need much more…).

Although its design has improved in recent versions, and will improve even more in future ones, Mozilla's mail client could use more cosmetic tweaks. Us we publish in february the news, but the truth is that the future design was already being discussed since the end of 2022. The change will be brutal, one of those that probably not everyone likes equally, but something so fine could not maintain the current logo. And we already have the first images of the new logo.

The new Thunderbird logo will arrive in a future update

New Thunderbird logo

The new logo is the one above. If you feel it's shocking, you feel like I did seeing it for the first time. But if we look at the one in Firefox, what they are doing is following the trend that started now about 4 years ago, when Firefox became a trademark and the browser, although no one refers to it as such, became a product called Firefox Browser. The design has been simplified. Like the one in Firefox with the globe, the envelope is in the center and the animal surrounds it. And as if expecting to see them together, the thunderbird looks to the left, the opposite side to the one the red panda is looking at.

There is no word on the exact date of when the official Thunderbird logo will be, but it shouldn't be too long. In my opinion, I think they should use it when they change the UI so that the renovation is complete, but we will probably see the logo first because it is already 100% ready. Do you like it?

I recommend that you download the beta version of Thunderbird, which contains most of the cosmetic changes. The truth is brutal and gives a fresh air to the thunder bird. The only thing that it does not contain is the synchronization with Firefox sync.
