The witch hunt comes to video games. Time to stop this

The witch hunt came to the video game industry, and, his victim is curiously the developer of a game set in the Harry Potter universe.

A long time ago Linux Adictos we come warning about the escalation of this dangerous stupidity It started when a gay dating site decided to cancel Brendan Eich, named president of the Mozilla Foundation. Eich, creator of Javascript and author of most of the innovations that had made Firefox a serious competitor to Internet Explorer, committed the crime of donating a thousand dollars to those who campaigned for No in a plebiscite on gay marriage.

Mozilla let his arm twist and there he began its decline.

The witch hunt comes to video games

It is no coincidence that the beginning of the witch hunt in the world of video games begins with Harry Potter. The character was already in the crosshairs when its creator JK Rowling came up with an opinion about trans people that does not coincide with the one that the bible of political correctness commands. It was a matter of time before the new Holy Inquisition began to look for questionable things in those who worked on products related to the saga. And, it is already known that when someone looks for something with desire, they find it.

The infamous Mr. Troy Leavitt

The accusation, amplified by the specialized portal Kotaku, is more or less like this:

TRoy Leavitt is a lead designer currently working on the controversial Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy. She also ran for more than a year a reactionary YouTube channel focused on attacking feminism and social justice.

Leavitt's YouTube channel features video titles such as "The Injustice of Social Justice," "In Praise of Cultural Appropriation," and "Are Thought Crimes Getting Real?"

In case you do not find anything questionable in this, the columnist clarifies it for you

the latter title is a reference to George Orwell's 1984 dystopian science fiction novel. Commentators on the right often use the book's "Big Brother" authoritarian rule as a point of comparison in their critiques, comparing the fictional surveillance state to real-world equality movements.

If you're not yet holding the torch, let's see the other Troy Leavitt crimes reviewed by Kotaku

Among Leavitt's other videos are lengthy defenses from both John Lasseter, the Pixar co-founder who left his position at Disney in 2017 following allegations of sexual misconduct, and Nolan Bushnell, the Atari co-founder who, according to reports from Kotaku, fostered a toxic work environment for women. In some of her videos, Leavitt voiced her support for Gamergate, a movement that encouraged harassment against women and other minorities in the gaming industry, and criticized the series Tropes vs. Anita Sarkeesian's Women as an "uninformed fringe position."

Myth and reality

Most of the women who worked with Nolan Bushnell in the 70s denied the accusations against the founder of Atari. It is the case of Loni Reeder who stated:

Some of us in the Atari field are actual MeToo victims from other walks in our lives, so we definitely know the difference between Atari's weather (a time in our lives that we love and still celebrate!) And what is feel like being the victim of a sexual assault. We also feel that this outcry is muddying the waters of claims from ACTUAL assault victims and is causing real damage to a very important movement.

Regarding the GamerGate movement,  none of the accusers was able to find a single Leavitt endorsement of the harassment. What stood out were the positive aspects of participation.

What did the terrible insults against the feminist communicator Anita Sarkeesian consist of? in saying that its content is "marginal" or "uninformed."

I'm not even going to use the keyboard to talk about that nonsense called «Cultural appropriation»

Luckily, Warner seems to ignore the campaign and the game still has a release date of 2022. In Troy's words.

I'm happy to say that even though I did reveal my YouTube channel to WB Games, it didn't seem to be a problem for them. Not that they endorse anything I've said, of course, but at least they seem more concerned with making good games than pushing some kind of social justice agenda, so there's hope.

It's amazing what this fanatic feminist ideology does. The worst of all is that the most damaged is the woman who, according to them, they say they "defend."

The truth is that the author is not capable of writing an article with his own hand and on his own initiative, because the article is not understood as hell, because it is a copy and paste found by the network and poorly translated.

Too bad there are people like you in the Linux world. Get upset a little and rewrite the article yourself, that you will not drop any eggs and surely that way, we will know what you want to convey.

And it is still a wasted effort. The author manages himself to look bad.

    I have been a feminist since I was a teenager (2004).
In 2015 I stopped being it.

Supporting any ideology (or political movement) without investigating the origin and foundations of that ideology is like recommending a book having only read the cover. It is also irresponsible.

Feminism is an ideology that is intentionally based on half-truths, is pseudo-scientific, and has consequently been shown to be ineffective.

I always recommend reading, but these videos are very solid to begin with:
