PinePhone postmarketOS Community Edition will be available for pre-order in early July

Introducing the PinePhone with postmarketOS

PINE64 and postmarketOS have been pleased to announce that the PinePhone postmarketOS Community Edition. Since the end of last year had available one with Plasma Mobile, but the one they have presented us A few hours ago you will be using postmarketOS and it is based on Alpine Linux, but it can run different user interfaces or graphical environments, such as Plasma Mobile, MATE, GNOME or XFCE, which is joined by the old Unity8 that has recently been renamed Lomiri.

For those who are excited about this release, the enthusiasm needs to be lowered a bit. If PINE64 advises that the PineTab is a device with medium or discrete hardware and that its software is taking its first important steps, we have to know that postmarketOS is in an even more immature phase, so we have to explain again that these devices are intended for what they label the "PINE64 community", which is people who want to "tinker" with these devices, have fun and develop or help in their development by providing feedback.

The PinePhone with postmarketOS arrives with Phosh
