This flavor of Ubuntu replaces Gnome Shell with XFCE which is a lightweight desktop environment that compared to Gnome Shell, its resource consumption is very low. On the desktop Ubuntu Studio 18.04 uses the same XFCE desktop release as Xubuntu 18.04.
