The new version of the LXQt desktop, version 0.11 is now available for everyone

LXQt 0.10

These days we have seen several popular desktops like Gnome launch new versions of their desktops, but not only famous projects have done so. A humble project known as LXQt also has its new version, in this case known as LXQt 0.11.

This project aims to be the future of the LXDE desktop, a lightweight desktop that is based on OpenBox as a window manager and other tools until the Desktop function is completed, as in other larger projects such as Gnome or KDE.

LXQt is intended to be LXDE adapted to QT libraries, libraries that will improve the functioning of the desktop as well as the resources of the equipment. In this case, LXQt 0.11 has quite a few bugs fixed, something that makes its performance improved for many users. It has also been fixed the problem that exists with the screensaver application. An issue that caused certain teams to have issues with team suspension.

LXQt 0.11 improves some bugs and problems with certain programs as well as the configuration

This release places a deep emphasis on window manager settings. Thus, while Openbox is governed by the configuration of an xml file, now Lqxt-Config better fits this file allowing a better and greater configuration. The sound management through Pulseaudio has also been corrected, having a better performance. Besides the github repository enabled to contain desktop versions has also been changed to be used more accurately by distribution managers who want to use it. Especially for the construction of important packages for the desktop.

This will make many distributions able to use a newer version of the desktop although many distributions such as Lubuntu are already working with the previous version of LXQT, a very stable version or at least the most stable until the release of this version.

Although large projects are usually the most used, it is true that small desks are becoming more functional and also increasingly used, as indicated by Lubuntu or Manjaro. In any case, Linux allows us to modify almost everything, the included desktop and we can always choose whether to use the boring Gnome or KDE or, on the contrary, opt for lightweight LXQt What do you choose?

Well, I can't tell you that I'm advanced in Linux. But six years ago I migrated to Debian, having gone through Ubuntu and many other distros. And Debian only gives me satisfaction after satisfaction. Therefore if it is in your technical possibilities to master this distro ... you will not regret it.

I find it very interesting, I like light and simple desks and if I don't use Lxde or E17 it is because I find them either very spartan or half finished. If Lxqt becomes stable and functional enough, I don't rule it out at all as the main desktop.
