The most interesting Linux video games to come in 2019

Tux Linux and issue 2019

New year, new projects to come and we hope it will be a year with a lot of good news for Linux and free software in general. Now let's start with a list of the most famous video games that promise a lot and that will appear in 2019 for our GNU / Linux distributions. As I say, they are not just any title, they are very interesting video games that we are going to see as they appear throughout the year ...

The list is quite extensive, and as you can see, these are not little-known or low-quality titles, but Linux is increasingly treading in the world of video games. We already commented that 2018 ended with more than 5000 titles with support for our favorite system, and they will continue to increase… Well here it goes the list with developer and genre:

  • Xenosis: Alien Infection - NerdRage Studios (retro inspired sci-fi adventure / survival)
  • Jon Shafer's At the Gates - Conifer Games (indie strategy game from the designer of Civilization 5)
  • Tropico 6 - Limbic Entertainment (managing your own island)
  • stoneshard - Ink Stains Games (it's a turn-based RPG set in a medieval world)
  • Beyond Blue - E-Line Media (future-based, is a first-person exploration and mystery game)
  • Voxel tycoon - Voxel Tycoon (another strategy video game but transport oriented)
  • eastshade - Eastshade Studios (we talked about it already, with great design and great graphics that you can explore)
  • The First Men - Pera Games (another real-time strategy video game based on a fantasy world)
  • godhood - Abbey Games (old school management video game with religious overtones…)
  • Emperor: Rome - Paradox Development Studio (classic real-time strategy on imperial Rome)
  • starmancer - Ominux Games (video game where to build a space station after a catastrophe of humanity)
  • Monster crown - Studio Aurum (retro game where you have your monsters ...)
  • Jupiter Bright - ChaosForge (it's a turn-based roguelike video game with a sci-fi story)
  • We Happy Few - Compulsion Games (a video game with a careful design in which you will live an intriguing story in the English of the 60s that we have also talked about in LxA).
  • Life is Strange 2 - Feral Interactive Linux port (new version of this video game that we have also talked about)
  • Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass - Croteam (a fantastic shooter that you are going to love)
  • Mosaic - Krillbite Studio (3D adventure with 2D puzzles)
  • DiRT 4 - Feral Interactive Linux port (we have already talked, so little to say about this racing simulator)
  • Pathway - Robotality (turn-based strategy adventure for lovers of this type of genre)
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Feral Interactive Linux port (you know, Lara Croft will continue her adventures in Linux…)
  • KURSK - Jujubee SA (adventure and video-documentary inspired by the real world of the tragedy of the Russian submarine KURSK)
  • off-grid - Semaeopus (3rd person video game where you can fight with hackable weapons)
  • Total War: THREE KINGDOMS - Feral Interactive Linux port (turn-based, is a strategy game set in bygone eras, with legendary heroes and lost kingdoms)
  • Overland - Finji (it's a post-apocalyptic survival and strategy video game)
  • hellpoint - Cradle Games (another very interesting sci-fi RPG)
  • Barotrauma - Undertow Games, FakeFish (2D scan)
  • Psychonauts 2 - Double Fine Productions (another title about a wonderful 3D adventure with amazing people)
  • Insurgency: Sandstorm - New World Interactive (team time based FPS for fun fighting)
  • indivisible - Lab Zero Games (RPG with a lot of action in a fantastic world that will captivate you)
  • System Shock - Nightdive Studios (relaunch of this first person shooter title)
  • In The Valley of Gods - Valve (may not be coming in 2019 if it's delayed, but it's a fantastic 3D adventure to explore ancient ruins, treasures, etc., like a true archaeologist)

And these are just some of those to come, there will be more ... How many titles will we end 2019 with? I hope they continue to grow at the rate they currently do.
