The JingPad A1 demonstrates in video how you can run Android apps

JingPad A1+ Android

Last summer, one of the hot topics when it came to hardware with or for Linux was the PineTab. Some of us thought it would be an option, since the operating systems it can run are close to what we use on desktops, but many months later, neither software nor hardware seems the best. This year there is much talk about another tableta jing pad a1 that does seem to meet all the requirements to become the tablet that every Linux user could dream of.

And is that the JingPad A1 is not the PineTab. His philosophy is not that everything is free, including hardware, but that pretends to be a Linux tablet with all the meat on the grill, including more advanced hardware. And in case having Linux on a tablet, that everything works well and components such as quality cameras were not enough, today they have published a new video in the official channel of the project that attracts attention and in which we see how it runs Android applications as if they were native apps.

JingPad A1: Linux and Android in a tablet with advanced hardware

What they have chosen for the short demonstration is the Garden Scapes game, one that I personally did not know but is very reminiscent of Candy Crush. From the video, what we have to keep is that the Android application appears on the home screen as if it were a native, that and that seems to work quite well. And the thing is that in the Linux world there is a lot of software, but some applications specially designed for mobile devices with touch screens suit a tablet better.

The downside of all this is that the tablet will exceed € 600, which is not a high price if we are going to use it, but it is too high to buy it on a whim. Oh, and Android support is only included in the JingOS version for JingPad. Taking into account all that it offers, will it be able to compete face to face with the iPad?
