Endian Firewall is a free GNU / Linux distribution specialized in firewalls (Firewall), routing and unified threat management. It is being developed by the Italian Endian Srl and the community. Endian is originally based on IPCop, which is also a fork of SmoothWall.
Endian is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, which is why Endian Firewall is 100% open source. This Linux distribution includes a wide variety of functionssuch as stateful inspection firewall, HTTP / FTP antivirus, content filtering, POP3 / SMTP antivirus, antiphishing and anti-spam tools, SSL / TLS VPN, IDS and other features.
By having a Firewall, we can establish rules of INPUT AND OUTPUT RULES, we can also create a VPN gateway with the help of OpenVPN or IPsec.
This distribution It is an opensource solution since as I mentioned, it is oriented to act as a Firewall, Being thus a totally integral solution for the protection of networks offering all the services that a UTM (Unified Threat Management) offers, it is also very easy to use and install.
This distribution It has been updated to version 3.2.5 with which we find improvements and bug fixes, the most important changes within Endian are the following:
Here is a short list of changes compared to the last version:
- UTM-1722 Enhancement Add option to load custom TLS ciphers
