SuperTux arrives at the OpenStore of an Ubuntu Touch that begins to despair

SuperTux on Ubuntu Touch

This should be good news, but it will not be so much because it is going to be given by someone in a pessimistic state. I am not feeling very optimistic because I am losing faith in UBports and its Ubuntu Touch, one of the first Linux operating systems for mobiles and tablets, or at least one of the most popular, which does not work well at all. And it is that a very famous game to the OpenStore, but Super Tux it does not work on the PinePhone or PineTab.

The fact is, yes, SuperTux is available for Ubuntu Touch devices, but the hearts that appear in the OpenStore are from users who are playing it on somewhat special devices, specifically and precisely those that are not designed to use Ubuntu Touch, but Android. The developer assures that it works in the OTA-16 of the operating system running on a Nexus 5, but also that does not work on the PinePhone. It also doesn't work on the PineTab, where a server has tested MAME or RetroArch without any problem, but on Mobian or Arch Linux.

SuperTux does not work on the PinePhone, at least for now

This can only make us look askance, or already directly, at the alternatives. And is that Ubuntu Touch has a good graphical environment, but right now you can not use desktop applications. In fact, many native apps do not work as expected on some devices, and the saying "who covers a lot, little squeezes" fits perfectly here. A server buys a tablet that came with Ubuntu Touch and you can't use many of the apps more than six months later. It's not serious.

In any case, it is true that Lomiri is still the best graphical environment, and also that Ubuntu Touch works on many devices. It is also true that SuperTux is already available, based on Super Mario, but all this is in the background when an editor like me has to report availability, but can not provide more information other than that Ubuntu Touch is still very green.

To the rest of the users, those who can open the game, then to enjoy it. I could not. Well yeah… On Arch Linux.

The alternative is to try Lomiri (the graphical environment for UBports) on the Manjaro arm.

Bringing together the Lomiri desktop experience, and the programs from the manjaro / arch repository
