Super Container OS: a distro with a built-in container engine

Super Container OS

Containers have become extremely practical in recent times to be able to implement some systems in a simpler way than using virtual machines and with a series of advantages, although it also has its drawbacks. That is why they have arisen multitude of container management projects, as is the case with the distro Super Container OS of which today I speak.

This is a fairly new project, but one that is worth knowing. It is true that not all new projects end up taking hold and some disappear, but that does not mean they deserve less attention. In addition, it is impossible to predict what the future of Super Container OS will be, and it can be very useful for manage your containers without so much hassle thanks to the built-in motor, that is, it already has a built-in motor.

Super Container OS has been developed by Harshad Joshi and it is based on Debian GNU / Linux 10 "Buster", so it has a solid base from which to start. And it appears as a great alternative for all those who have been "orphaned" after what happened with CoreOS, the popular distro also oriented to the world of containers that is now owned by Red Hat.

Super Container OS also relies on other essential building blocks, and not just Debian. For example, it integrates an engine for container management Docker by default, and use systemd-nspawn. In addition, it has been based on the computing platform Bufferstack.IO. All thought to make things much easier for you and that you only have to worry about what really matters.

In fact, the distro includes everything that you, as an administrator, need to run containerized applications. And that involves the system libraries, settings, utilities, etc., and even Carrier Manager, a web-based graphical interface for container management that works with Docker.

It should be added that Super Container OS is a quite small operating system, so it is quite agile. The ISO image also allows to operate in Live mode to run it from an optical disc or USB drive without installation, or with the possibility to install it.
