Steam Play with Proton 4.11-7 is out

Steam play

Valve continues unstoppable in its efforts to improve its Steam client more and more for the different platforms for which it is available. And of course, the gaming world within those who use GNU / Linux distros are waiting for these news to be able to play more video games and with greater facilities. And that is what Steam Play has contributed in this latest version released thanks to the development efforts of Valve and CodeWeavers, which as you know, is also involved ...

Now the new version of Steam Play will have Proton 4.11-7, the new version of the Proton project that is nothing more than an improved implementation of Wine so that every time Linux users can play more native Microsoft Windows video games on their distro without any effort, just run from Steam as they would with any another video game and voila.

Now, this new version of the client will bring compatibility improvements for more titles on the list, fixing some annoying bugs from the previous version. It has also been improved, with one of the biggest steps forward, the support for gamepads and other video game controllers. So if you like to play with these types of controllers, you're in luck. But those have not been the only changes made ...

Another interesting change is that they improved the Windows video game support built with the Unity graphics engine (which you will surely remember because we have talked about him a lot in LxA for its support also for Linux platforms) that use the Rewired Unity plugin. Of course, they also updated wine-mono to version 4.9.3, fixed a few issues with Age of Wonders: Planetfall, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and other VR games that will no longer stop. And of course, DXVK updated to version 1.4.2 and D9VK to 0.22 have been included.
