Soft Maker Office It has been a fairly complete and powerful office suite for a long time, with a graphical interface very similar to that of Microsoft Office and which is increasingly attracting more and more users. It is available for both Windows, macOS and Linux, as well as for mobile platforms such as Android.
As I said, it is quite attractive, and with the launch of the current SoftMaker Office 2021 and all its improvements, many are offering it as the best alternative for Linux if you want do without Microsoft Office. As you know, the MS suite is not available for Linux, although the Redmond company has released apps for Android.
SoftMaker is a company Nurember-based software developer, Germany. And they are the ones behind this office suite. It is freeware (it has a free trial version) and a full paid version, but it is not free or open source. It is simply a suite of office tools whose source code you do not know, like Microsoft's.
Well it is true that it seems the suite more similar alternative to what they offer from MS. Not only for its visual aspect of the graphical interface, but also because it has great support for formats such as DOC, XLS, PPT, as well as DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX.
It even has several editions like Office, like the Standard Edition and Professional Edition, the first being subdivided into NX Home and NX Universal. Depending on the edition, it costs from € 39.95 per year to € 89.95 depending on the chosen one and available payment plans (you can also pay month to month instead of annual single payments).
But remember, if you want real freedom: LibreOffice, OpenOffice, and Calligra.
