Software for the proud. Linux and deadly sins part nine

Woman looking in the mirror

In this article series we're testing a novel way of commenting on free and open source software titles. In fact, only a highly talented blogger like me would be able to do it, because believe it or not, I'm more than just a pretty face.

we have to talk about software for the proud.  We can define pride as the exaggerated love for oneself, in case someone did not understand the joke of the first paragraph. And no, making bad jokes on blogs about Linux does not count as a sin.

Software for the proud

There are many ways in which pride manifests itself. In this article I am going to concentrate on what refers to the admiration for one's own physical appearance.

Fashion design

To design fashion patterns there are several titles, although most are proprietary licenses. In addition, with enough knowledge we can get by with any drawing application. But If we are looking for a specific application with an open source license, without a doubt the first option is Valentina.

This program includes 50 main patterns based on mathematical form that designers can interact with to see the results.

If what you want is to make a design from scratch, Valentina has a drawing tool based on instructions.

This program uses a different approach than commercial solutions as it work with parametric patterns. Patterns of this type can be reorganized according to certain rules, which allows, by changing the input data -measures and increments-, as well as specifying formulas and rules to build geometric objects, to automatically modify the shape of the pattern without the need to restructure it manually. If we need patterns for several sizes, the adjustments will be made by Valentina.

If you love your image and can't stop looking at yourself, without a doubt the webcam is your favorite accessory. There are several software titles in the Linux catalog that will allow you to take advantage of it.
