Almost a month after development began, the distro Schools Linux 6.9 it's here. A distribution specially designed for educational environments. In this new version there are some great changes and interesting new features that will make life easier for students and educators, both at pre-school ages, as well as in primary schools, and in institutes (secondary / higher education).
This new version comes with news in which the situation has affected the pandemic, and I am not referring to its development. But they have been taken into account new needs such as online or distance learning, including the Zoom video conferencing app. This way you will not have to execute commands to download and install the Zoom client, but it already comes by default.
But that is not the only novelty, some bugs have also been corrected, as well as many of its packages have been updated to a more current version. It is the case of Moksha desktop environment (from Bodhi) on which Escuelas Linux 6.9 is based. Now it comes with Moksha version 0.3.1 (update 20200501).
Other pre-installed apps They were also updated in Escuelas Linux 6.9, as is the case of:
- Inkscape 1.0
- Blender 2.82 (for 64-bit), although you will also find the Blender 2.79 version (for 32-bit) depending on the ISO you download.
- LibreOffice 6.4.4
- Only Office 5.5
- And many other packages for drawing, office automation, multimedia, etc. So that you do not lack detail.
Between the problems fixed there are some that were with Audacity and OpenShot ...
