Samsung Galaxy Fold: a foldable beast with a Linux heart

Samsung today presented its most exclusive and long-awaited product in San Francisco, the famous folding and flexible screen smartphone that has been talked about so much in recent years. After 10 years of the first Galaxy, now comes the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the new and expensive product of the South Korean firm. We know that it will be sold from April 26 and will cost no less than € 1750, a price that is the same as the great product that you will get in exchange ...

This is the first flexible smartphone, whose screen can be folded completely. This turns your external panel of just 4.6 ″ into a great 7.3 ″ screen how big it looks like a tablet like the 7 ″ Glaxy Tab. As they have said, the future is already here, and the future is flexible. The truth is that it is incredible what can be done with the new display of the South Korean firm. In addition, it has much more than that appeal.

Inside it is equipped with an eviable hardware, since it has 12GB of LPDDR4 RAM, a 4380 mAh battery (split on both sides of the screen) that guarantee good autonomy despite having that large screen. It also has 6 cameras, three in its external rear part (16MP), one in its external front part and two in its internal part, these are 10MP. As for the SoC, it is an 855-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 and manufactured in 7nm process. Storage goes up to 512GB of Universal Flash Storage 3.0.

At its heart it has an operating system Android 9.0 Pie with our favorite kernel, Linux. And it also has a user interface or UI retouched by Samsung, as usual. Likewise, with its Continuity App you can go from the external panel to the internal drop-down panel without cuts, instantly to continue with what you were doing but on a larger surface. And from what we have been able to know, it has support to handle up to 3 apps simultaneously.

As if that were not enough, it will come with LTE and 5G for connectivity, with a 50% thinner and more resistant Super AMOLED screen. However, Samsung is already working with the developers of the apps so that they can adapt to the new smartphone and take full advantage of the capabilities of the folding screens, and that they can be handled up to 3 times faster than other current smartphones from the competition.

Are you seriously going to point out that this phone comes with Linux just because it has Android? All Android devices have a Linux kernel. Where is the novelty in this case?

This is paid advertising, no less .. but it's okay .. you have to live on something

Neither is it enough to get sanctimonious and point the finger at the cry of "it's paid advertising." So what if it was? Let's not be boys. Novelty is novelty. And it is also an interesting smartphone. If I hadn't seen it yesterday on YT I would have found out here today.
