Review of the gaming landscape in Linux

gaming linux

The panorama of gaming on Linux This week leaves us lights and shadows, although lately, as you know, the lights predominate over the shadows. We start with the shadow, and it is that it has been known that the Code Masters F1 2016 video game will not be available for Linux, like F1 2015. The reason for not carrying the title by the Feral Interactive company, which has already carried great titles to Linux, is that the sales of F1 2015 have not been high enough to be worth it ...

The second news from the video game sector is not bad, and it seems that even the google search engine It already takes into consideration the world of videogames in Linux, and it is not something so current, but surely many of you had not realized it yet, and it is that if you search for "linux new games" without quotes, you will see that at the top there is a list of the great titles in the world of digital entertainment for GNU / Linux. A tool that we can use to see what is available ...

More news is the announcement of the arrival of Armor Clash II, a very interesting video game that could be available for Lnux shortly in the famous Valve store, Steam. It is a real-time strategy video game with multiplayer capacity or in campaigns inspired by the classic Command & Conquer. So I hope that the information on the page on Steam is fulfilled and soon we can play this title, although it seems that it will arrive soon because they are in talks with Steam to release it imminently, but still without a specific date ...

The other good news is the announcement of Racer Online on Steam, a 2D racing title that reminds me of some classics from the past, specifically it reminds me of the way of playing and the graphics of Over Top (surely you will know it from the Neo Geo or emulators like that, and even arcade machines ...) . And we already know that the departure date was this past April 5, 2017, so you can now get it.

The truth is that it is a real shame about F1-2016. In my case even more because it is a sport that I particularly like, but it is perfectly understandable that it is not for all tastes. They also chose to make the port of the 2015 version that had a very bad reputation. The price was another drag, since it did not drop in price despite the 2016 version being released. My colleague Serjor recently wrote about the subject on our page:

As for Armor Clash II and Racer Online, I was unaware of the existence of these games. The first one looks very good. I'll keep an eye on them to see how.

Nice to see more people writing about games on Linux.

    A greeting
