Arne Exton is a developer whose fame comes to him, in part, because he does something special. He is responsible for operating systems such as RaspEX, an alternative for the Raspberry whose latest version was based on Eoan Ermine when it was still in beta (or even earlier). It also develops a version of Android for computers and Raspbian Pixel, which is nothing other than the Raspberry Pi operating system, based on Debian, for PC and Mac computers.
The latest version of Raspbian Pixel, or more specifically Rasbperry Pi Debian 10 Pixel for computers, has arrived with the number 191102, which means that it is the version of November 2019, XNUMX. The most outstanding novelty is that this delivery happens to be based on Debian 10 Buster, the version of the Project Debian operating system that was launched in july this year.
Raspbian Pixel 191102 Highlights
- Based on Debian 10 Buster.
- Available with two different Linux 4.19 kernels for PAE (4.19.0-6-686-pae) and non-PAE (4.19.0-6-686) systems.
- Includes Firefox as a web browser.
- NetworkManager and Wicd have been included to configure network connections.
- Installed by default Refracta Snapshot in its latest version (10.2.9) accompanied by Refracta Installer 9.5.3.
Firefox has been installed so that you have a browser when you log in as root. You cannot run Chromium as root. Another good thing about Firefox is that you can use it to watch Netflix movies.
As a personal opinion, to say that, I insist that in my opinion based on the fact that I use the Raspberry operating system on my board, I would say that I do not think that Raspbian is a great option, and less if we take into account that this one from Exton is to install it on computers that are also compatible with many other distributions. In any case, having options is always positive and we already have one new version of this fork for which it may interest you.
