Proton GE is a twin project to Proton that we know. The latter is a Valve project based on WINE that is giving many joy to gamers who use Linux. Thanks to this fantastic software integrated in the Steam Play client, Windows video games can be played as if they were native. And the truth is that the list of compatible titles keeps getting bigger and better.
Proton GE is a Proton build with the latest releases from the vanilla version of WINE. Also, it has FFmpeg and FAduio enabled by default, as well as all Proton patches applied, as well as VKD3D. Therefore, Proton GE can be considered as a "vitaminized" version of the base project.
Currently just launched version 6.10 from Proton GE, one of the biggest updates that has been released so far, and with interesting fixes and improvements. Some of the most prominent are:

If you are interested in testing this Proton GE, you can do so by following these simple steps:
- Download the tarball with the project from this link.
- If there is no ~ / .steam / root / compatibilitytools.d / directory, create it.
- Then extract the contents of the package downloaded in step 1 into that directory.
- Restart the Steam client.
- This Proton GE should now appear. Just right-click on the game> Properties> Compatibility and make sure the option "Force the use of a specific compatibility tool for Steam Play" is checked.
