It's been a little over a month since threw the June 2022 update of this operating system that the community likes so much. Nowadays it's not that special, but it has a couple of things that nobody will take away from it: first, it was the first option if we wanted to install, for example, Plasma on many devices; second, and since we have mentioned the number of devices, it is available for many more than Manjaro or Mobian, among others. That number of devices that can use it has increased a bit more after the launch de postmarket OS 22.06 SP1.
postmarketOS 22.06 SP1 is the first maintenance update of the version released last month. The team of developers has decided to label them with the acronym “SP”, which is the same as that used by Microsoft for Windows updates and which means “Service Pack”. For practical purposes, they are point or maintenance updates, and they usually come with some features, but not as prominent as major updates.
What's new in postmarketOS 22.06 SP1
- New devices:
- Added PINE64 PinePhone Pro, with support for the postmarketOS installer. As with the PinePhone OG, the installer allows the use of encryption and installation from SD to eMMC.
- The Samsung Galaxy E7 has also been backported to the stable version.
- Added modem udev rules to improve stability when using the Biktorgj firmware on the PinePhone modem
- Megapixels 1.5.2 is now available along with the updated version of postprocessd to improve image quality and speed up post-processing on supported Megapixels devices. To use it, you have to run "apk add postprocessd" on existing installations. New installation images will have it installed by default.
- osk-sdl 0.67 turns off the device when you press the power button (in case you don't feel like unlocking the phone on boot right away), and fixes slow input issues when using an external keyboard.
