Wine is a great project that aims to bring native Microsoft Windows software to Unix platforms, and as you know, a good ally of Wine is the PlayOnLinux project, a software that consists of some scripts to properly configure Wine in an automated way so that the software you want install works properly, in addition to offering a simple graphical interface for the installation and management of your software.
Well now comes a new release of PlayOnLinux 5.0 alpha 1. It is an alpha, that is, it is a fairly early development version of what will be the final version of PLayOnLinux 5.0. But it already includes interesting improvements and news compared to previous versions or releases. One of the most notable is a renewed graphical user interface that now looks more attractive and improved. There are also improvements to the included scripts for the Wine settings to properly install and run Microsoft Windows programs and games. Before they were written in the bash language, whereas now they have been moved to JavaScript language. As you can see, these are deep and important changes that will be filed and improved as developers progress as the final version of PlayOnLinux 5.0 approaches.
If you would like to you can try this new version nowalthough it may still be somewhat unstable or cause problems. In fact, it seems that there are already several users who they are having problems when installing this package on your distros. The problem they have found is that PlayOnLinus does not work with the latest versions of Java, so if you have the latest versions it will not work. It seems that the developers are working to resolve this quickly ...
