Plasma Mobile Gear

Source: Plasma Mobile Project

KDE started an interesting project to bring its environment to mobile devices. Now, Plasma Mobile Gear reaches its version 21.12 for Plasma Mobile (the mobile environment). It has been 3 months of intense development since version 21.08 was released, during which time there have been extensive updates and improvements.

On the one hand, the telephony stack has been changed from oFono to ModemManager. The latter integrates with the NetworkManager network administration daemon, it is more reliable than oFono, as well as getting more frequent updates due to the more active development of said project. The app to send or receive SMS / MMS messages and the call app now use ModemManager as a backend.
