Pixelbook Go, Google's cheap computer that… seems expensive to me

Pixelbook Go

A few hours ago, Google presented the Pixelbook Go. In fact, they published a tweet before the official presentation in which we could see the video you have after the cut, where they show a computer lightweight, with a silent keyboard, with a design that makes it easy to pick up and some other interesting features that we will detail below. But is everything as spectacular as they paint it? In my personal and non-transferable opinion, no.

We are going to start with the price and we will begin to understand why it does not seem like the best option: we are facing a computer that will price of $ 649 (without confirming price or availability in Spain), little money if we have a "complete" computer but that, although they have lowered their price compared to other equipment in the company, it is still more expensive than my Acer where I have Kubuntu at "full ». And is that the operating system used by the Pixelbook Go is the Chrome OS from Google, limited from my point of view.

The Pixelbook Go will be priced at $ 649

Operating system aside, the Pixelbook Go does seem to have interesting hardware components. The 13.3 ″ screen, which has been called the Molecular Display, is touch and we can choose it in 1080p or 4K versions. At the top, like many other laptops, it has a webcam, in the case of this 2mp Google proposal.

As for the power, it is available with m3, i5 or i7 processors. Its memory is 8GB or 16GB in terms of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. And like most Pixel, if not all, the Google Assistant is always available, which we can invoke with the usual command since the microphones will always be active. Those of you who are thinking that this is not cool, the option can be deactivated.

What is interesting is the battery life of the Pixelbook Go: 12 hours autonomy. This is more at the level of Apple tablets or computers than other laptops that, in the best of cases, can reach half that time.

What do you think of the Pixelbook Go? Do you think it is a good option or, like me, do you think it is limited by Chrome OS?

Not cheap price, limited operating system, with open microphones and more on top of Google ... at least I already know what I would never buy.

I mean if it floats like the video I buy it, but not even a shine.
