PeerTube 2.4 comes with improvements in moderation, admin interface and more

The PeerTube 2.4 new edition released, in which the moderation tools have been improved, as well as the ability to add widgets, complaint notifications, improvements in the comments and administrator interface and more.

For those unfamiliar with PeerTube, I must tell you that this is a decentralized platform for organizing video hosting and video broadcasting. PeerTube offers a vendor-independent alternative to YouTube, Dailymotion, and Vimeo, using a P2P-based content distribution network and linking visitors' browsers.

PeerTube is based on the use of WebTorrent, running in a browser and uses WebRTC technology to establish a P2P-direct communication channel between the browser and the ActivityPub protocol, allowing disparate servers to be linked with video in the general federated network in which visitors are involved in content delivery and have the ability to subscribe to channels and receive notifications of new videos.

The web interface provided by the project is built using the angular framework.

The federated network of PeerTube is formed as a community of small servers video hosting interconnected, each of which has its own administrator and its own rules can be adopted.

Each server with video plays the role of similar to BitTorrent, in which the user accounts of this server and their videos are located.

What's new in PeerTube 2.4?

Users they sent a complaint alert now receive a notification to accept or reject the complaint, with a possible note from a moderator. The "My Abuse Reports" section also appeared in the account settings, where you can view the list of registered complaints and send a message to the moderator.

To add links to different parts of a video when adding videos to playlists, an option is now available through which you can set the offset and size of the next passage. This function can be used, for example, to create remixes from the most interesting video clips.

Added plugin to add annotations to videos. With the help of the specified plugin, the user can specify the information to be displayed at a certain time of the video playback.

The interface for writing comments has been improved: A button with an indicator of the use of the Markdown format has been added and the ability to delete or edit comments that remain unanswered has been implemented.

In the administrator interface, when working with a tab in the menu, shading of other tabs is provided to visually separate them. The layout of the tables in the user administration tab has been changed: buttons with actions are now displayed on the left, making it easier to work on mobile devices. Odds are displayed as visual indicators and user categories are highlighted in different colors.
