PCLinuxOS 2017.03, a new iso image for the most stable

These days we are getting quite a bit of news from distributions releasing new ISO images. This is because they are rolling release distributions that occasionally release ISO images for fresh installations.

In this case we have received the news of a new ISO image from the PCLinuxOS team. In this case, the ISO image is called PCLinuxOS 2017.03, an image that collects the latest news in the distribution, although in this case we are talking about fairly stable packages and programs.

PCLinuxOS 2017.03 comes with kernel 4.9.13, one of the last stable versions before the 4.10 kernel release. KDE Plasma is also incorporated as the default desktop and in this case the LTS branch of Plasma is still used, that is, Plasma 5.8.6. KDE Aplications is also present in the ISO image, in this case we are talking about 16.12.2, one of the latest versions.

PCLinuxOS 2017.03 comes with the latest Linux kernel

PCLinuxOS 2017.03 also contains other applications that are not related to the KDE project such as NixNote, an Evernote clone; Dropbox or GParted client. And it has also included some changes in important applications to improve or customize them. Among these improvements are the changes applied to the Konsole, the system terminal and the NetworkManager changes for better network management.

As with other rolling release distributions, if you already have PCLinux OS installed, you just have to run the update program so that your computer receive all these changes. If, on the other hand, you want to try this distribution or you simply want to install it on a new computer, you have to download the installation ISO image from this link.

There you will get the official version that you can install on both 64-bit and 32-bit machines. Personally, I think that PCLinuxOS 2017.03 is a very stable and recommended alternative for those who are not looking for big changes, although if you are looking for KDE more than PCLinuxOS, it may not be your distribution.

A pity that it is kde, otherwise it would paint quite well

Yes it is KDE and the best for me. It will also be fast on older hardware for about 2 years. Too bad they abandon the 32-bit version.

PCLinuxOS takes full advantage of KDE while being very stable and relatively easy to install and use. I tried the "famous" ones and none of them beat it.
