OpenRGB: new version of the multi-vendor RGB control app

openRGB

If you have devices with RGB LED lights and you can't find a solution to control colors from your favorite GNU / Linux distro, then you should know about the RGB lighting control app called OpenRGB. An open source software that allows control for different vendors of this type of hardware, instead of offering only control for a specific one.

Also, this solution is totally free and it is also available for other platforms. With a quite intuitive and pleasant graphical interface, and that does not stop improving to continue adding better support and new functions. If you are interested in the project, you can learn more or install it from your site on GitLab, from where they offer you everything you need ...

Open RGB app

With the launch of the OpenRGB version 0.4 some notable improvements have arrived, among which some can be highlighted such as:

  • The graphical LED view that allows you to see the current settings and select multiple LEDs to quickly apply colors.
  • Device detection in the background, so as not to disturb. Only a progress bar will be displayed showing the status of the detection and allows you to cancel the detection if you wish.
  • The keyboard and mouse LED names have been standardized, allowing for better integration with Aurora.
  • Windows shortcuts now work correctly, allowing arguments to be specified and an autostart shortcut to be created
  • New I2C tool to read multi-byte SMBus registers (such as ASRock boards).

Besides all that, there are new drivers for Corsari Hydro cooling units such as Pro H100i Pro and H115i Pro models, Tecknet M008 mouse, and HyperX Pulsefire Surge Mouse, ASRock Polychrome controller enhancements, RGB Fusion 2 SMBus enablement on some motherboards, better support for MSI GPUs, RGB Fusion 2 USB detection with bug fixed, new keyboard maps added, etc.
