OpenDroneMap: drone mapping software

opendronemap

OpenDroneMap is an open source photogrammetry software that is used to photograph areas to maps and 3D models. This software is hosted and distributed freely and for free from GitHub. It is available for macOS, Windows, and GNU / Linux. It is licensed under GNU GPLv3 and is written using Python, C ++, JavaScript, and Go programming languages.

This open source tool will process images captured by drone cameras and convert them into three-dimensional geographic data of the terrain, being able to use these maps for other works. Therefore, if you have a drone with a camera, you can take advantage of this software to create these representations very easily.

ODM or OpenDroneMap consists of several tools to be able to carry out these processing of images captured by raw civil drones. The result will be practical for point clouds, digital surface models, textured digital surface models, orthorectified images, digital elevation models, etc.

And, although it can be found in the repos of Ubuntu and in the Ubuntu Software app store, since OpenDroneMap has been built for Ubuntu, it can also be run on other platforms using Docker.

Also, even if it is a command line tool, if you are one of those who do not like to work with the terminal and want something more intuitive, you should know that there is another very interesting project with which to work from a graphical user interface. In order to do that, you can go to WebODM. This project is also open source and free, and you have it available from your GitHub site.

WebODM is not only a graphical app, it also gives you API easy to use and expandable for drone image processing. Of course, it is also compatible with MicMac (this has been added more recently and was in the experimental phase).
