Nvidia 430.14 Linux Driver now available with good news for gamers

Nvidia is the company responsible for, among other things, some of the most popular GPUs on the planet, but also some headaches for some Linux users. Those headaches can translate into what our PC shows are not the best images it could offer. Any problem can be solved if it is given with the correct key, and that is what it has tried and it seems that the company achieved when launching Nvidia 430.14 for Linux.

The new driver for Linux is now available and, among the new features it includes, we can mention improvements in games as DiRT 4 or Wolfestein II. Special mention to the car game, since Feral Interactive released it for Linux on March 28. As for the second version of Wolfestein, say that it is a first-person shooter (FPS) that is available on the Steam video game platform.

Other new features included in Nvidia 430.14

Among the rest of the news, the driver for Linux Nvidia 430.14 includes:

  • New functions in the VDPAU driver.
  • Support for decoding HEVC YUV 4: 4: 4 streams.
  • New profile capacity per decoder.
  • Support to access YUV 4: 4: 4 surfaces.
  • Support for creating YUV 4: 4: 4 video surfaces.
  • Support has been added for hosting VDPAU video surfaces with explicit frames or field image structure.
  • Support for the OpenGL GL_NV_vdpau_interop2 extension to be able to share VDPAU / OpenGL surfaces with explicit frames or field image structure.
  • The X.ORG Server minimum requirement has been updated to version 1.7.
  • The nvidia-installer has been updated to improve system language support.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the screen to change to low resolution when configuring the PRIME screen download with the command "nvidia-xconfig –prime".
  • Fixed a bug in the FreeBSD installation files on BSD systems.
