The first Linux kernel 4.11 release candidate is now available

Tux with Matrix code

We have released this week with pleasant news for Gnu / Linux users and not very pleasant for developers as it involves more work. The news comes from Kernel.org, the website created by Linus Torvalds to publish the versions and updates of his kernel.

Indeed, we already have a development version of the kernel, in this case we talk about kernel 4.11, the next kernel version that is expected to be released at the end of April, that is to say within two months.

Currently, what has been released has been the release candidate version of kernel 4.11. This version will be the first of a total of 8 versions that will be published throughout these days. After this, on April 23, the final version will be released, although before this, the users will know the kernel 4.10, a version that a few days ago has been released in a stable way for everyone and that possibly will reach more Gnu / distributions. Linux than this future version of Linux.

Kernel 4.11 will be composed of 8 release candidates

En the web Kernel.org We already have this release candidate of Kernel 4.11 available, a version that we can download, compile and install in any distribution. Although this is not recommended to do in a distribution or a production team, because even if it is a release candidate, the version is still unstable and since it is the kernel, we could have a pretty serious problem on the production team if we install this version. On the other hand, if you are a developer or have a test bed team, this version of the Linux kernel is ideal for it.

In any case, this component of the distribution should be updated since it not only corrects problematic bugs found but also ensures a increased compatibility with new hardware or existing hardware but it does not support adequately. That is, sooner or later we will have this nucleus or the following ones in our distribution.
