Solus 1.2.1 now available with Budgie and with MATE

Solus 1.2.1

A few hours ago the new version of Solus, the increasingly popular Gnu / Linux distribution, was released. This distribution not only has Budgie as its main desktop but from now on it will also have MATE, being Solus MATE a new official flavor of the distribution.

Solus 1.2.1 comes with many updates and many improvements that make it one of the most up-to-date non-rolling release distributions that exist in the market. This is due among other things to the new drivers added, Budgie fixes and the addition of MATE 1.16 and of course the new kernel.

Solus 1.2.1 will have an official version with MATE

We start with the latter. Solus 1.2.1 kernel is 4.8.2, that is, the latest version of the most stable kernel that exists. Which makes it one of the safest and most stable versions out there. Solus has improved its Software Center and its support, which makes it easier for users to introduce new packages and programs in Solus 1.2.1. In addition, various graphic drivers are introduced, not only the Nouveau drivers, but also also Vulkan and even Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 graphics drivers.

Budgie is more careful and polished than ever, although the star of this release is undoubtedly Solus MATE, a new version expected by many. On Solus 1.2.1 core is seated MATE version 1.16. But this time the desktop is optimized and adapted to the layout, being as powerful or more as the Budgie desktop.

Those of you who have the version with Budgie, you can get the latest version through the distribution itself, which will update itself. Those who want to try Solus MATE 1.2.1 will have to download the installation image and do a clean installation, something expensive but that it will be worth it for many who love this desk. So it's time to prepare an installation afternoon Do not you think?

Solus with Mate? Where is the fun? The good thing about Solus is Budgie, if you take this away, there is only another mediocre distro.
