Nintendo Switch already runs Linux flawlessly, thanks to hackers

Nintendo Switch with Linux

A few months ago, the new Nintendo game console, Nintendo Switch, was released. A 2-1 console that has revolutionized the game console market thanks to its ways of playing ... and its software. The new Nintendo console has taken little time to be hacked and thanks to an exploit of the operating system, we can say that Nintendo Switch is capable of running Gnu / Linux.

The group of hackers in charge of this task has been FailOverflow, a group of hackers who have already managed to hack other video consoles such as the Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 4 among others. And it has also created an installation system that will withstand future updates from Nintendo to its software.

The exploit is apparently difficult to fix and will make Linux installable on Nintendo Switch for the time being, despite Nintendo updates as the hole is difficult to remove with an update. But, the downside is that it will not be easy for end users to do this process, that is, to install Gnu / Linux on the Nintendo Switch. Among other things, FailOverflow has not released the upgrade guide yet and the pictures show cables that could indicate a difficult and dangerous process for end users.

To the point that many hackers and media think that FailOverflow has achieved the results thanks to Photoshop and the manipulation of images. This theory, although it is popular, is also difficult to believe because on the one hand it is not the first game console that the group pirates and on the other hand, Nintendo has left several bugs on its consoles that allow Linux to be installed, as is the case with Nintendo Mini Classic or Nintendo Wii. So it's easy to believe that the Nintendo Switch has been hacked. I personally believe it and I think that This famous exploit has more to do with the Software that Nintendo is using than a bug by Nintendo programmers. A software that has the surname «Libre» Do not you think?

It's probably a FreeBSD bug (system on which the Switch is apparently based) that Nintendo forgot to patch ...
