Netrunner 19.01 Blackbird Officially Released With New Dark Theme

Netrunner 19.01 Blackbird

The development team behind Netrunner today announced the Netrunner 19.01 availability, a Debian-based distribution.

With the name Blackbird, Netrunner 19.01 comes ten months after Netrunner 18.03 Idolon with a fresh new 3D dark theme created using the Kvantum theme engine and the Alpha-Black Plasma theme. The new theme comes with a bit of bling, we can see a little light in the option "Minimize all windows and show the desktop".

"At this time of year, we think we can try something more vivid and colorful. Instead of the previous 'material look', we thought we could do something different. Blackbird comes with a new theme called Netrunner Black that is dark, but not visually contrasting.".

In addition to the new design, Netrunner 19.01 comes with support for Web Apps, which are links to sites that can be added as launchers in the application menu. Plasma integration with Firefox, which enables controls and visual feedback for downloads, as well as Plasma integration with GTK + applications.

The updated components in Netrunner 19.01 Blackbird include the KDE Plasma 5.14.3 graphical environment, accompanied by KDE Frameworks 5.51 and KDE Applications 18.08, Qt 5.11.3 Mozilla Firefox 64.0, Mozilla Thunderbird 60.3, as well as Krita 4.1.1 digital software.

Inside the hood we find Linux Kernel 4.19.0. Finally, this release unifies all KCM interface modules and tweaks under the Plasma Tweaks section accessible in the sidebar. You can download Netrunner 19.01 Blackbird from this link.
