Net It is a project that has been carried out for a long time in BlackLab Software (PC / OpenSystems LLC), a company that has not only created a distro called Black Lab Linux but then has also dedicated itself to offering support and computers with Linux pre-installed on them (with its distro of course). Well, a few hours ago a ready version of NetOS arrived, not a unique product but actually a family of GNU / Linux distributions, since we have NetOS, NetOS Enterprise, and NetOS Education.
It is basically a distro style Chromium OS, based on Ubuntu and compatible with the x86 platform and of course focused on use in the cloud with a variety of Google services, to which we have access as soon as we finish the installation: Gmail, Google Docs, Google Play Music, Google Maps, Google Translate , and since we also have alternatives from other important companies such as Microsoft with Outlook Web and Office or Apple with iCloud, in addition to Hulu, Pixlr (online image editor) and several more.
Of course, although all this from the cloud is very good, the truth is that many will want to use their computers without connection to the network, and for them the family of this project also has pre-installed open source applications, among which we have Steam for Linux, Skype, NitroShare or the AppGrid package manager, but this in terms of what we have available from the installer since it is a distribution based on Ubuntu (and through her also in Debian) we can use apt-get to add whatever we want.
In the case of Net OS Enterprise we have integration with tools such as Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Services, Amazon Web Services (AWS), PostreSQL or GIMPWhile NetOS Education adds utilities such as Edmodo, Adesia Desktop Sketching, Caliber, Synergy, the Tux Education suite and integration with Education.com, among other features of both that allow them to focus on a well-defined segment.
