Multi-Account Containers: new extension included by default in Firefox 75 and that you can try now

Today it is common for us to have several accounts for the same service. Sometimes, this is necessary because we have at least one personal account and another for work, so we have to be leaving and entering a service to be able to make one use or another. Thinking about this, the extension for Firefox has been around for a long time Multi Account Containers, one that will be added by default in about two months.

But what is Multi-Account Containers? If we do the direct translation, we have to be containers for multi-accounts. The extension allows us to create several containers, being able to choose its name, icon and color, to be able to separate our accounts, which will prevent us from having to leave one to enter the other. And, what is better, Firefox 75 it will include the function by default, albeit in a way that improves upon the existing extension.

Multi-Account Containers will be included by default in Firefox

Currently, we can download the extension from this link. As an extension that is not yet perfectly integrated into the browser, to open a new container we have to do click and hold on the button to open a new tab (+). At that time, by default we have the Personal, Work, Leisure and Shopping containers, but we can edit this from the extension settings. As of Firefox 75, we can open a tab in a new container in the same way or by right-clicking on the new tab button.

Both Multi-Account Containers and the function that will be included by default in Firefox 75 will allow us the following.

• Save time by not having to log out and log in to switch between accounts. If we add a Twitter account to "Work", whenever we open a new "Work" tab, it will enter that account.
• To be able to use services like Twitter Web with the native Push notifications of Firefox and that these arrive to all the accounts. Otherwise, they will only reach the account that we have open.
• That when entering a service we do not do so with the wrong account, which will cause it to show us suggestions that do not interest us (we would have entered for work). The best example to understand this point is YouTube: if we enter with the work account and watch videos related to our work, if we do it with the wrong account, it will suggest things that do not interest us.
• If we use a web application app only to be able to use several accounts, forget about them. This is possible with Firefox.

Available from April

As we have already mentioned, the extension has been available for a long time and the feature included by default will arrive with Firefox 75, which will be the April 7.
