Mozilla Thunderbird 60, a new version of one of the most famous email clients

Thunderbird logo

Yesterday we not only heard the unpleasant news of the future change within Firefox regarding Cloudflare's dns but we were also presented with a new version of Mozilla Thunderbird, Mozilla Thunderbird 60.

This new version of Thunderbird is a true renewal of this email client, which in the case of Gnu/Linux, has remained one of the best email clients that exist. The new version of Thunderbird has a completely renewed appearance. In addition to being based on the latest versions of Firefox, Thunderbird has two new themes, one dark and the other light that give the idea of a renewed appearance. The calendar has been incorporated into the core of the application, being part of the client. Also, this feature that was present through a plugin in previous versions, now allows you to relate the date to a location.

In the aspect of email, Mozilla Thunderbird 60 has several updates, but not great news. Mozilla Thunderbird 60 allows creating email templates and being able to send emails through these templates with a button that will appear in the email writing panel. The new version also incorporates the OAuth2 protocol and compatibility with Yahoo! and AOL email accounts.

These are some of the novelties of this new version, a version that many have waited for a long time, but they are not the only ones. In the release notes we can find all the changes of this new version.

If we have Mozilla Thunderbird and we have a rolling release distribution, you may have already seen the new version on your computer. If you have a non-rolling distribution, like Ubuntu, it will be a matter of days when we receive the new version and we can always go to the program website and download the new version to use it.
