More derivatives of Arch Linux

We discuss more distributions derived from Arch Linux

In my article on cachyOS I told them that some distributions had given rise to many others. In this I am going to list more derivatives of Arch Linux.

Due to the fact that it is a distribution focused on configurability and that it has complete documentation, Arch Linux is one of the most chosen to build new versions.

Some basics

Many times we broadcasters tend to forget that new users are added to Linux every day and that it is a mistake to think that everyone knows what we are talking about, so let me review some concepts before continuing.

Linux distribution

A Linux distribution is a combination of software including the Linux kernel, various utilities (Generally developed by the GNU project) a graphical server, a window manager, a desktop and a collection of utility programs such as browsers or office suites.

derived distribution

It is a modification of an existing Linux distribution modified to adapt it to the needs of a group of users. particularly as beginners or specialists in forensic analysis.

More derivatives of Arch Linux

Manjaro

Do you remember the book collection called "Choose Your Own Adventure"? At one point they gave you two options and according to which one you chose they sent you to the corresponding page. Well, Arch Linux is something like that, as you go through the installation process you can go through the multiple options that Linux offers for each thing.

Now, imagine that someone edits those books and transforms them into traditional novels that are read in a linear fashion. That would be Manjaro.

This Linux distribution takes several of the different Arch options and packages them into ready-to-use solutions. It features three community flavors: KDE Plasma, XFCE, and GNOME. There are also community-developed versions for the Budgie, Cinnamon and Mate desktops and with the I3 and Sway window managers.

The Calamares installer (Used by many other distributions) is a real pleasure, both for its design and for its intuitive use. For the installation of applications from the extensive Arch Linux repository we have a graphical package manager.

Parabola GNU/Linux-libre

Free software, like so many other things, has its fundamentalists and, if you want to try a distribution based on Arch Linux that does not have a single non-FSF-approved component here. is what you are looking for.

For starters, instead of the traditional Linux kernel, it uses the one from the GNU Linux-libre project, which makes sure to expunge every proprietary component of it. Of course you can forget about having full support for a lot of hardware, especially the newer ones. It also identifies those packages from the Arch repositories that are not considered free and you will not be able to download them.

The distribution comes in two flavors, one without a graphical interface and one with the LXDE desktop.

Endeavor

Presents itself as a terminal-centric distribution which seems limited to not having a graphical package manager because otherwise it has very complete graphical tools.

If you settle for the XFCE desktop, you can use the aforementioned Calamares offline installer, but to opt for the other graphic options: Gnome, KDE, Deepin, Budgie, Cinnamon, Mate, LXQT or i3 you must use it in conjunction with an Internet connection . Apparently the distro works very well with Nvidia graphics cards.

Welcome apps have become popular on many Linux distributions, and EndeavourOS offers its own with links to documentation and suggestions for apps you can install.

BlackArch

If you've been on Linux long enough You will have heard of Kali Linux, a distribution specialized in computer security and penetration testing based on Debian. Well, BlackArch it's exactly the same It's just that it's based on and uses the Arch Linux repositories. It is possible to download the version with all the tools or a smaller one that allows you to install the tools you need either by item or by title.

The project has a guide in pdf, but unfortunately it is not in Spanish.
