Developer Failbetter Games has already developed great games, such as Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies and the popular narrative browser game Fallen London. It acts as a prequel to his other games set in the Fallen London universe. A romantic visual novel set in 1862. And according to the developer himself, the artistic style they have chosen for the video game is very inspired by film noir, Victorian photography and the Blitz era of Great Britain, following a bit the evolution of what began in Fallen London, but with more detail and depth of style.
The story will take place underground, after being trapped, along with other characters and with a series of problems. Like Archie, a medical student who sees how death works differently here; Griselda an assistant; Horatia, the landlady with a soft spot for the native inhabitants of Neath; and Harjit, the local agent looking for a missing person. With all this, you have some very succulent ingredients for the story to unfold, with some really incredible adventures, and an exquisite style and narration.
But for all of this to be a reality, a Kickstarter campaign is first needed to launch in February 2021. Failbetter aims to raise enough money to launch it. In addition, they have confirmed their Linux support, like its previous games, and that you will have available on GOG and Steam, when the time comes.
We will be waiting for more information about this interesting project. At the moment not too many details are known. But, just with that, it looks pretty good ... Especially for gamers who are looking for more than just a fun game, and prefer a little more depth to the story and the artistic aspect.
