Manjaro prepares its landing on Android tablets ... and the iPad?

Manjaro on Android tablet

Personally, this news seems important to me. But, for those of you who are waiting for a detailed article, I am sorry to tell you that it will not be like that, not this one. And it is that the team of developers behind this famous distribution based on Arch Linux has promised that Manjaro will come to Android and iOS tablets. While it is true that landing on Android devices is nothing new, Ubuntu Touch has already done it and continues to add devices in each new OTA, it does draw more attention to the "iOS tablets".

From here, the rest of the article will deal with what the official Manjaro account has published in Twitter, what is an image and the text of the tweet. Looking at the picture, we can see that what they are using is the GNOME desktop, or so it seems if we look at the top left where it says "Activities" and at the top bar. At the bottom of the image we also see the buttons of an Android tablet, but we cannot assure that the final software will have them there; it could be a rendering, as the capture includes borders or bezels on the outside.

Manjaro on the iPad?

The tweet that has opened Pandora's box is the following.

As a user of many devices, I also have an iPad, and those of us who have an Apple tablet know that its operating system has been renamed iPadOS. Therefore, we do not know if they were wrong, they wanted to say so or if what they have prepared will only work on iPad that used iOS, that is, something older. Until they give more details we will not know which iPad is supported.

What they also have to tell us, and I insist on the iPad because it is all the more difficult, is how we will install the operating system on the apple tablet. There are three options: one that would install the system with a dual boot, another that would install it in memory replacing the main system, and another that could be run by adding a compatible pendrive, but I am inclined to think more about the first option. In fact, it is something that have already done on the iPhone, although installing Ubuntu.

As a user of a PineTab, I would like Manjaro to take care of it a little more and release images regularly with its Plasma or Lomiri editions, but hey, that's another matter. What we do know is that we will soon be able to use this system on Android tablets and, at least, some iPads.
