Manjaro 2022-07-04 arrives as a new stable version without anything really outstanding

manjaro 2022-07-04

A few days ago the "test" version was released, and its list of new features was timid, but I didn't want to believe that that was going to be all it brought. This morning have thrown manjaro 2022-07-04 and yes, the forecasts have been fulfilled and many packages have been updated, but something is missing. This time we don't read anything new in GNOME, or in Plasma, or even in any other less used desktop, like the Cinnamon 5.4 of the June 24 version.

KDE has already released Plasma 5.25.2, so it's expected to come to Manjaro soon, but we'll have to keep waiting. At the end of June there was talk of more problems than expected, which is why the team of developers of the most outstanding student of Arch Linux have put it on hold. It could be said that Manjaro 2022-07-04 is a "hotfix" version, that is, one of those that are released to fix bugs, although in a Rolling Release distribution there is no such thing and they have added the packages that already exist and work fine.

Highlights of Manjaro 2022-07-04

This stable version has arrived with updated kernels, with Firefox 102, with Thunderbird 91.11.0, the NVIDIA drivers have been updated to version 5.15.57 and the usual Haskell and Python updates have been added. From the short list above, I don't know what I would pick as the highlight, but it is what it is.

manjaro 2022-07-04 It is now available to update from Pamac (the tool with or without Manjaro GUI) or Pacman, but lately it is being recommended to use the first one because it handles some conflicts better. Once the new packages are installed, it will be necessary to restart the computer for the changes to take effect. The next stable version can arrive at any time, always after a new test. And we hope that next time we will have a slightly longer list of new features.
