Manjaro 2022-06-24 arrives with Cinnamon 5.4 and few more notable news

manjaro 2022-06-24

La announced already, but it has not yet reached all existing installations. One of Arch Linux's most accomplished alumni has released manjaro 2022-06-24, a new update for its stable branch. And, speaking of branches, lately they are leaving very little time between the release of a "test" to that of the "stable". I seem to remember that the previous one arrived two days later, but this stable version arrived only one day after the test version, the second firewall after the “unstable” branch.

Personally, this launch has surprised me. First, because like the previous one, it has arrived very soon after a “test”; also, this week they released Plasma 5.25.1, so I was hoping they would release the new stable version when that KDE desktop version was ready. According to the list of news, Plasma 5.25 has not been included (it is said that there are regressions and they prefer to wait), but it has Cinnamon 5.4 in what I think is the highlight of Manjaro 2022-06-24.

Highlights of Manjaro 2022-06-24

The highlight of Manjaro 2022-06-24, which comes after the June 12 version, is the next:

  • They have updated some of the kernels.
  • KDE Frameworks it is now at 5.95.
  • Cinnamon 5.4 has been uploaded to the official repositories.
  • An update for Qt5 has been included which needs to be rebuilt. The developer team asks for feedback from users if they run into any issues.
  • gstreamer is now at version 1.20.3.
  • Regular updates on HaskellPython

At the time of this writing, the new packages have not yet arrived on my computer, but should do so sometime this afternoon. It is a new update for Ruah, the code name of Manjaro 21.3, the latest ISO that is available from the official website. To update, once the packages appear, just open Pamac, go to the updates section and install everything that appears. It can also be installed with the sudo command pacman -Syu, although for Manjaro it is more recommended to use Pamac, even in its CLI version.
