Let's make one thing clear: although this already happened in the earlier version, no, Manjaro doesn't take care of KDE users anymore. What happens is that the KDE Community updates its software very frequently, such as KDE Gear once a month or Plasma, which release the first dot versions in three consecutive weeks. That said, today I know launched manjaro 2021-08-09, a new stable version that will be better for the users of this official edition.
From this release it stands out that the KDE edition has received plasma 5.22.4, available on KDE neon and Kubuntu + Backports from July 27th. As for the general updates, that is, for all its flavors, it also highlights the arrival of PulseAudio 15.0 or PipeWire 0.3.33. Below you have the list of news that they have provided us in their official forum.
Highlights of Manjaro 2021-08-09
- Some of the kernels have been updated. And here they remind again that the 5.12 series is marked as EOL, which means that it will not be updated any more and, in turn, will be exposed to any security flaws that are discovered.
- Xorg-Server 1.20.13 has the fixes already officially shipped.
- Mesa is now at 21.1.6.
- Virtualbox is now at 6.1.26.
- PulseAudio has been updated to version 15.0, which brings improvements to Bluetooth.
- Plasma has been revamped to 5.22.4.
- Pipewire is now at 0.3.33.
- Some KDE-git and Python updates.
- Other regular updraft updates
Manjaro 2021-08-09 is a stable version, and its numbering coincides with the day it is launched. It is not a new ISO, but its packages appear as an update on existing installations. The latest ISO is still at v21.0.7, and from the looks of it there haven't been any new ones since then because they have a bug to fix. They are currently releasing Manjaro 21.1 RCs, which will be the first image to use GNOME 40 on the stable branch.
