Not a week ago we installed last and we already have another. Today at noon, when I got home and turned on my most discreet PC, I saw that there was an update of more than 700MB. Looking over I have seen that Atom and Firefox have been updated, so, not seeing anything either on the official website or in any support chat, I have been left with a bit of doubt. But later they have announced the launch of manjaro 2021-07-28, which is a new stable version for existing installations.
Although has been announced as a stable version, and that means that there are changes for all official and unofficial editions, the ones who have benefited the most have been the KDE users, since they have updated the applications to the July version and the graphical environment has risen to plasma 5.22.4 which was launched yesterday.
Highlights of Manjaro 2021-07-28
- Most of the Manjaro kernels have been updated. They remind again that the 5.12 series is marked as EOL, so it will not receive any more patches. The most up-to-date stable is now Linux 5.13.5-1.
- Systemd is at 248.6.
- Plasma has been updated to 5.22.4.
- KDEGear 21.04.3.
- More updates from Cinnamon.
- Firefox is now at 90.0.2.
- LibreOffice has uploaded to 7.1.5.
- Other regular updates
It is a bit surprising that the most up-to-date ISO is still Manjaro 21.0.7. Manjaro 2021-07-28 is available for existing installations; you only need to open Pamac and update all packages or open a terminal and write sudo pacman -Syu. If we do it this second way, the Flatpak and Snap packages will not be updated, which can be a good idea if we want to spend less time updating the operating system.
Manjaro 21.1 Pahvo is now in its third Release Candidate and it shouldn't take long for it to appear on the official Manjaro website.
