LXQt 0.12.0 Release is out with major improvements and changes

LXQt

The developers of Lightweight Qt Desktop Enviroment, or better known as LXQt, have announced that a new Release of their lightweight desktop environment is now available, it is LXQt 0.12.0 that can be downloaded from now on and installed in our favorite distribution to provide it with a fast and lightweight desktop environment. It is also available to distribution developers who implement it so they can add this new version. So the development team continues the hard development work until reaching the first mature version, 1.0.0 of this environment ...

The new version 0.12.0 is the next release after more than one year after the LXQt 0.11.0 version and that brings interesting changes and improvements as I have already made clear in the title of this post. One of the most striking changes is the implementation of better support for HiDPI-type displays as has become common in many modern desktop environments to work well with this new display technology. But although that draws attention, it is not the only change that has been made to the source code ...

It has also been provided with a new dialog system to open and save files, support for theme icons with the extension FollowsColorScheme KDE to standard XDG, improvements in the system for shutting down and restarting the environment, since now LXQt can shut down all components first before systemd start your work to shut down the system. There are also interesting changes to the lxqt-common components, introduction of new components, other better changes and of course bug fixes.

The LXQt 0.12.0 binaries now also support -help and -version parameters for information, and although I didn't say so, the code has also been optimized to work better by making the desktop environment faster and more robust, somewhat which is greatly appreciated. If you want, you can access the official website of the project to obtain more details. And by the way, this new version will come standard in the next Lubuntu 18.04.
