Lumina Desktop 1.6.1: already released

Lumina Desktop

After a year and a half without evidence of development, a new release of the desktop environment has finally been released Lumina Desktop, this is version 1.6.1. An environment that is not as well known as others, but that has its strengths to take into account.

It is a project carried out after completion of TrueOS inside the Trident project (you sure remember the Void Linux distribution). The components of the Lumina desktop environment use libraries that are well known to all, and that use other environments as a base, such as Qt5 (without using QML), the same ones used by KDE, for example. In addition, it is written in C ++ and is distributed under a BSD license.

Lumina adopts a very classic approach in terms of user space. A Windows-like appearance in some details, with an application bar, a session manager, an application menu, a configuration system for environment settings, a task manager, a system tray, and compatibility with computer systems. virtual desktop.

Fluxbox is used as a window manager for the Lumina environment. This project also develops its own file manager called Insight, and it has support for tabs to work with multiple directories at the same time, bookmarks section, built-in media player, photo viewer with support for slideshows, tools to manage snapshots in ZFS, and support for external plug-in drivers.

On the other hand, if you want to know changes from Lumina 1.6.1, some bugs present in previous versions have been corrected, and improvements related to theme support have been included. This includes by default a new theme for the desktop environment developed by the Trident project and that uses (depends on) the La Capitaine icon themes.

They have a spectacular error in the title of this article.
    "DESCKTOP".

The worst thing is that it is obvious, because it was recommended to me on Google.
