Lumina 1.4, a new version of an unknown desktop

Lumina Desk

Many developers want to launch their own Linux desktop, but few make the desktop triumph among Gnu / Linux users.

On the other hand, those who do not propose it, curiously stand out and become popular. This is the case with desks like Xfce or Lumina, desktops that were born for non-Gnu / Linux distributions and that they have been so successful that they have been ported to Gnu / Linux systems.

Xfce is a veteran desktop and compatible with almost all Gnu / Linux distributions, but the same is not the case with Lumina, although they share the same path. Lumina is a recent desktop that goes by version 1.4 and that it tries to offer the best performance with the Qt libraries.

Lumina 1.4 improves support with the ZFS file system

Lumina 1.4 has been released recently and not yet available for all Gnu / Linux distributions. This new version includes a new personalization engine that we can access through a new personalization application that the desktop brings with it.

Another novelty in Lumina 1.4 is the incorporation of its own tool. Lumina uses external applications for typical functions such as the document viewer or multimedia files. As of Lumina 1.4, PDF documents will be opened with a desktop application, Lumina-Pdf. In addition, Lumina 1.4 includes two tools that greatly improve support for the ZFS file system.

Lumina 1.4 is a fairly simple and minimal desktop, which makes it ideal for many users looking for this, but it is neither a replacement for Plasma nor a rival to this desktop. In any case, it seems that it is getting more and more users and being more popular on Gnu / Linux, But Which distribution will be the first to use Lumina as the main desktop of the distribution? What do you think of this desktop for Gnu / Linux?

I tried it with True OS but I did not see it polished, one of the problems is that the icons had a different size, some grinier than others. I think it must be a problem of the distribution and not of the desktop itself. Later I will give it a try on some Linux distro.
