Lumina 1.2, the lightweight desktop from BSD, is now available

Light 1.2

The beginning of the year has not only brought us new projects but also new versions of well-known and not-so-known desktops, programs and applications. In this case I am going to talk about Lumina Hair Care, a lightweight desktop that recently arrived on Gnu / Linux and that recently released Lumina 1.2, a lightweight version.

Lumina 1.2 is a version with few changes but these are really significant and make the desktop very light and fast, as much or more as the old light desktops that are used in Gnu / Linux.

Lumina 1.2 will allow you to have the appearance of any desktop and operating system on the market

Lumina was born as a desktop for BSD distributions but quickly comes to Linux as an alternative to LXQT or Xfce. Lumina 1.1 still had some shortcomings compared to other desktops like KDE or Gnome, but it was fully functional. In the new version, in Lumina 1.2, the desktop does not add many new functions, on the contrary, removes useless libraries and programs that make the new version faster and lighter than in previous versions.

Furthermore, its creator, Ken Moore, claims that This new version will allow you to have the appearance of the most famous desktops and operating systems with a couple of clicks. That is, with two clicks we can have the appearance of Mac OS, Windows, KDE, Xfce, Gnome, etc ...

We have not been able to verify this yet since Lumina 1.2 will soon be coming to Gnu / Linux distributions, at the moment it is only available for BSD distributions.

Lumina 1.2 is a great desktop, at least for less demanding users and those with low-resource computersFeatures that are increasingly requested by users and hence its modest success. However What do you think of this desk? Do you think that Lumina 1.2 is really a fast and light desktop?
