Samsung's Linux on DeX has not lasted a year, project discontinued

Linux on DeX

Running Android on a PC is something that interests many users, which is why there are projects like Android-x86. On the other hand, there was also Linux on DeX from Samsung, a proposal from the South Korean company that allowed us to connect our Samsung device and use it as a Linux computer. As you can see, we are talking in the past tense, and that is that the company has plans to abandon the project imminently.

It has been the same company that has reported this decision. Samsung thought the Microsoft Continuum It was a good idea and he decided to launch his DeX, but it failed to appeal to many people despite the fact that, on paper, it was the most powerful proposition. The Asian giant has begun to send emails to Linux on DeX users advising that it will stop working with the update to Android 10, an operating system that is already available for Pixel devices and that will soon reach those of Samsung.

Linux on DeX will stop working when upgrading to Android 10

The development of Linux on DeX was all thanks to customer interest and your valuable feedback. Unfortunately, we announce the end of our beta program and that we will no longer provide support for future versions of operating systems and devices - Samsung.

It is more than likely that soon we will know more about the reason why they have made this decision, that is, what was the exact reason that has forced them to leave a project that has lasted about 11 months. They have practically not had time to develop and improve the software, so one of the reasons could be that the interest of the users they talk about was not such.

If you are interested in seeing how it works (until it stops) Linux on DeX, you can take a look at the video of xda-developers that I leave you next.
