Linux Mint highlights two news in December: an old one and a confirmation

Hypnotix on Linux Mint

It seems that recently Clement Lefebvre is running out of ideas, or that is the feeling we get when talking for the third week in a row about the hypnotix de Linux Mint. But it is that, in addition, he also did the same with his plans on Chromium, although every week he gave more details and the last thing he mentioned is that he had gotten a more powerful computer to be able to compile the code faster and upload the package to its official repositories .

But what we were going to. The December 2020 newsletter about Linux Mint could be summarized in two points: the second, the most extensive, is an explanation about hypnotix, which is the IPTV app that the Menta team is developing. Lefebvre adds many screenshots to explain that we can add different TV services, VOD services (on demand) and add M3U lists, nothing that is not familiar to those of us who have used this type of software before. The beta is available at this link as a DEB package, and in AUR for Arch Linux users.

Linux Mint 20.1 Ulyssa is coming at Christmas

Like twelve months ago, Lefebvre has also advanced that the next version of the operating system, Linux Mint 20.1, will arrive in the christmas season. But, if we pay attention to what happened last year, it will arrive just before, probably before December 20, although the latter is not official information.

As for the news that will arrive with Linux Mint 20.1 ulyssa, little has been confirmed, but if they do not add their new sticky notes app, they will have advanced in their development, it will include Celluloid with hardware acceleration enabled by default, it is already certain that an updated version of Chrome can be installed free of snapd and WebApp Manager could make the task of creating web applications much easier. All this will arrive before the end of 2020.

I do not know if there is exhaustion or not of ideas, but LM 20.1 does not look bad at all. At the moment I am still in LM19.3; but surely update to 20.1 as soon as it comes out.

I'm not complaining far from it, Linux Mint gives me everything I need so as long as it is a slow but safe development, I am happy.
