Linux Mint 21 will use Blueman instead of Blueberry and Timeshift will come in as XApp

Linux Mint and Timeshift

We are at the beginning of the month, and that can mean many things. For example, if you get up early you can find cars parked on a wrong side of the street (in some streets it is a month on each side), and a lot of information about new projects is also published. The article about what happened in May 2022 in the mint-flavored Linux project tells a couple of details that will come along Linux Mint 21, as a farewell and a welcome.

The farewell is not that something will disappear in Linux Mint 21, but that they will use Blueman instead of Blueberry for Bluetooth operations. The problem is that GNOME made changes, so their "GNOME Bluetooth" doesn't work on Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce, which are the desktops Linux Mint uses, so they've made a decision. As an aside, say that Blueberry was the name given to GNOME Bluetooth and that it became XApp.

A forced change and a new signing for Linux Mint 21

The other highlight of this month's note, which reflects what happened in the previous one, is that T has been adopted as XApp. The XApps are the applications that become part of the Linux Mint circle, and it is an application that is used to make backup copies. I am using it and I have my data very safe, without having to do anything and without even knowing that it has been working.

Now, Clement Lefebvre comments that the original developer of Timeshift is no longer maintaining the app, so they had to contact him to see what they could do. The result has been the aforementioned adoption of Timeshift as an XApp, so they will keep it they and it will also be translated into more languages.

Regarding the release of Linux Mint 21, they have not said anything today, but it's known which will arrive sometime in the summer.

Hi, I'm very happy with mint 20.3 working perfectly, I hope that with 21 there are no improvements coming back and they don't even think of changing firefox or any other nonsense.
    regards
