Linux Mint 21.3 Beta now available, with Cinnamon 6.0 and experimental Wayland

Linux Mint 21.3 Beta

As we anticipated in the middle of last week, on Sunday the launch of Linux Mint 21.3 Beta. It was available on the project server days before, but it was not until the last day of the week that Clem made the landing official and also published the news of the version of its operating system that will carry the code name "Virginia." Like the rest of 21s, it is based on Ubuntu 22.04 and will be supported until 2027.

Among the most notable new features, two undoubtedly stand out: the first is the desktop, a Cinnamon 6.0 of which you have more details in our article from December 5; the second is Wayland, but only in the experimental phase. As of this beta, Linux Mint offers the ability to log in under Wayland, but it is not recommended on production computers. It's just the first step to take the leap.

Other news in Linux Mint 21.3 Beta
